Terrified Dog Tries to Climb Stairs, But Can’t Get Over Small Obstacle: ‘Threat’

The rivalry between cats and dogs dates back a long time, but the internet was left laughing when news broke that one cat appeared to have won the battle.

TikTok user @gabriela9377 shared a hilarious clip of her American Staffie, named Luna, attempting to climb the stairs, despite a small obstacle in her way. In order to get to the top of the stairs, Luna had to get past a terrifying kitten perched halfway up. Even though he is much bigger, the poor dog looks petrified.

Since the TikTok video was shared on July 6, it has delighted social media users who can’t get enough of Luna’s ongoing battle with the tiny kitten. In just a few days, the video has garnered more than 3.4 million views and over 178,400 likes on TikTok.

Alongside the funny clip, the caption reads: “Luna had a rough morning today! Kitty makes sure she’s left alone!”

The video ended disastrously for Luna, because as soon as the cat reacted slightly, she scared the dog, who fell down the stairs and landed at the bottom.

While Luna and her feline nemesis still have a long way to go before they become friends, it is indeed possible for cats and dogs to get along.

The Animal Humane Society recommends being patient and taking the introduction process slowly to allow them to gradually get used to each other. They should be kept apart for at least three days and given their own “safe room.” At this point, they may not be able to see each other, but they can hear and smell each other, and then the process begins.

Owners can then feed both animals on either side of a closed door to help create positive associations. Once they can do this calmly, they may be ready for face-to-face meetings. They should be supervised at all times, with the dog on a leash, and both animals should be rewarded with treats for calm behavior. This should be repeated daily before they are released together.

Even when both animals are calm with each other, the Animal Humane Society notes that owners should proceed with caution and continue to look for signs of aggression. They should still be separated when unsupervised.

How did TikTok react?

Even though it didn’t end well for Luna at the time, social media users highly praised her for her bravery and attempt to pass the kitten on.

Within days, the viral TikTok post had garnered more than 5,000 comments, one of which read, “If only Luna knew her strength lol.”

Another TikTok user wrote: “Awww the poor dog is scared of the kitty, I hope he didn’t hurt himself in the fall.”

Another person added: “Cats are a real menace.”

And another comment jokes: “At that moment, poor Luna’s life flashed before her eyes.”
